11th Annual Connellsville Community Yard Sale

The 11th Annual Connellsville Community Yard Sale 8:00 am to 2:00 pm, sponsored by the Community Events Committe of the Greater Connellsville Chamber of Commerce. Registration fee is $5, which includes your yard sale location on the master address list, house sign, balloons and advertising on Armstrong Channel 20 and in the Daily Courier. To be placed on the list, please contact the Chamber office for more information. Address lists will be availabilite at the Chamber booth next to Lion's Square on the day of the sale for $0.25. Clean out your basements and attics. Advanced Disposal will pick up your unwanted items. All items to be picked up are to be bundled, bagged or boxed and placed where the residents' trash is usually picked up. Nothing is to weigh more than fifty (50) pounds. Advanced Disposal will pick up large items such as chairs, sofas, mattresses, dryers, water tanks and tables. Refrigerators will be picked up as long as the Freon is properly removed and certification is attached. Please remember that Advanced Disposal will NOT pick up the following items: Tires, Toxic Liquids (paint, pesticides, oil or gas) or Appliances that contain Freon that have not been tagged by a licensed technician stating that the Freon has been removed. Come join us and think SPRING! It's time for the Geranium Festival again! On Saturday, May 24th, head on over to Crawford Avenue for buy flowers for the yard, for friends and neighbors. Vendors for food, crafts and other items will be there to help you enjoy the day. There will be entertainment throughout the day; a Princess Contest, a Pet Parade, clowns and face painting. Sponsored by the Connellsville Area Garden Club, and these people do a great job in making the City beautiful! Don't miss it!

Movies in the Park

The Connellsville Recreation Board has announced the movies and dates for the summertime delight known as Movies in the Park. Here's the tentative schedule: June 13th, "Monsters University," then on June 27th, "The Wizard of Oz,'" followed by on July 11th, "Back to the Future," then on July 25, "Mary Poppins," on August 8th, The Never Ending Story," and ending on August 21st with, "Friday Night Lights" with a pep rally to follow. Follow the Recreation Board on Facebook for any changes and/or additions.

Connellsville Crime Watch Washington DC Trip

Connellsville Crime Watch is sponsoring a trip on Saturday 21 June 2014 to Washington DC. Bus will be departing Connellsville at 6:30 a.m. and return to Connellsville approximately 9:00 p.m. The bus will let us off at Washington DC's Crime Museum. After a self-guided tour of the museum, (approx. 2 hrs) you are on your own to tour other sites in Washington DC to include the Washington Mall which includes all the monuments, and Smithsonian. Price is $ 75.00 per person and we are limited to only 56 seats. Included is the round trip transportation and tickets to the Crime Museum. Please note that this trip does require a lot of walking. Money raised will benefit Connellsville Crime Watch initiatives. 11th Annual Braddock's Crossing of the Yough

Coming June 28-29, 2014, the Connellsville Area Historical Society will sponsor the 11th Annual Braddock's Crossing of the Yough. The event is held at Crawford's Cabin located at 7th Street and the Youghiogheny River. This event which began as part of the 250th celebration of the War for Empire, known in America as the French and Indian War, has grown into an annual event here in Connellsville. On Saturday, June 28, this activity will begin with the Opening Ceremony at 11:00 A. M. and continue until 5:00 pm. At dusk on Saturday, there will be Indian stories and legends told around the campfire at Crawford's Cabin. On Sunday, the activities will begin at noon and end at 5:00 pm. River Crossings will take place both days at 1:00 pm. The Crossing is held under the direction of New Haven Hose Company. Come and interact with the re-enactors, make crafts, play games, enjoy good music and good food..

Connellsville's Annual Mum Festival, sponsored by Downtown Connellsville and the Fayette County Cultural Trust, will be held Saturday, September 6, 10:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. along Crawford Avenue. Featuring beautiful fall mums for sale. Vendors will include a variety of artisans, crafters and food. This is the last Farmers Market for the season, There will be bountiful local fresh produce and pumpkins, corn stalks and gourds. There is no admission fee. Additional information will be made available later.
