Sports Camp will begin on Monday, June 18th. This year there will be Tennis (at the Connellsville High School), Golf (at Mountz Creek Park) and Basketball (at Woodruff Park). Camps will run two days a week, Monday through Friday for two hours. Sign-up forms are available at City Hall, The Health Insurance Store and under the Customer Services link above. Registration cost is $20 for the first child, $10 for the second child and $5 for the 3rd child. Plus, if the first child signs up for additional camps, the cost for those camps is only $10; if the second and third children sign up for additional camps the cost is only $5. Details are still being worked out, but sign up early and get in on this program. Your kids will love it. various locations

You do not have to be athletic, young strong or have experience. | 1st Annual 'Bike for 'Books' and Community Health Fair |

Join the FRIENDS of the Library and come to Yough Park on May 19th for the first annual 10 mile bike ride on the Yough River Trail to benefit the Friends of the Library. The cost for this will be $15.00 if you pre-register and $20.00 the day of the event. All race participamts will receive a commemorative t-shirt and the knowledge they are helping to support the fine Carnegie Free Library right here in Connellsville. This Golden Reunion will include graduates from Connellsville, Dunbar, Immaculate Conception and Geibel High School from the 1940's, 50's and 60's. Imagine the memories. At 4 pm a dedication ceremony will take place for the recently completed stone restoration work. The Annual Highlands Hospital/BUD Murphy Race for Autism 5K Run & Walk will be held on Thursday, June 7th @ 7:00 pm. Registration is $15.00 pre- race and $17.00 on race day. Individuals can register in person at the hospital or call 724-626-2266 for an application. The Run begins at 7 pm and the Walk begins at 7:01 pm. This year there will be a "Lollipop Race" for children ages 5 through 10. The Lollipop Race begins at 8:00 pm and all participants will get (you guessed it) a Lollipop and a Ribbon. There will be plenty of prizes and refreshments. Participants who complete the 5K Run or Walk will be eligible to win $200 cash. 9th Annual Braddock's Crossing re-enacting Major General Edward Braddock's 1755 crossing through the Youghiogheny River. Opening ceremony begins on Saturday at 10:00 am. The Yough Park will play host to period campsites and demonstrations by American Indians, the British and George Washington. Both days at 1:00 pm (depending on River conditions) participants will walk across the river. You can join them and experience history. This is a 5k walk/run in Yough River Park benefitting the Fayette Friends of Animals. You can even bring your dog along with you or offer to walk a dog from the shelter.
